His first major career move: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” (with Mike Meyers doing his best to handle the crazy)
His second: “I’ma let you finish” (with Taylor Swift)

I love you and I don’t want to pick a fight with you, but you’re wrong. Kanye’s career post “808's” is a veritable shitshow, I’ll give you that. But unlike his wife, he began his career working his ASS off for Jay-Z as a producer. Most producers never get to work for Roc-a-Fella. But Kanye did, not through a bad opinion or decision, but through hard work and talent.
And then at a meeting with Jay-Z, be proceeded to jump on the conference room table and yell “I AM THE KING OF CHICAGO!”
He did that to JAY-Z. IN JAY-Z’S OFFICE.
That crazy has always been there. It’s just that his crazy is having a mid-life crisis, and his crazy isn’t taking it well.
He isn’t pulling a Joaquin Phoenix. Remember when he got all weird to promote some dumb project?

I have no doubt that Kanye has a master plan in all this, and likely for self-serving reasons, but hell... if Dennis Rodman can be an effective ambassador to N. Korea, maybe someone like Kanye, who has some social collateral (something Trump admires greatly), can get in Trump’s head and steer him into a more favorable direction.
I don’t know anything anymore.

Why would he remain a producer? Artists have ambition. Picasso didn’t want to paint fences. Come on, you’re better than that. He built his musical career out of bad decisions and bad opinions? Maybe he built his fame by acting out, maybe he got his shoe deal by acting wild, but his musical career was built on the foundations of College Dropout and Graduation, which are special albums.
